How Otto started
It started with a question.
When I first moved in with my partner, it was the first time I'd shared not just a space, but all the little responsibilities that come with it.
I have ADHD, we had completely different routines, and somehow the smallest things became surprisingly difficult to coordinate. Did we buy the same groceries? Who was making dinner? When were we doing laundry? Had the cat already been fed?
We weren't unwilling to help each other. There was simply too much to remember, coordinate and communicate all the time.

I'm a software engineer, so I started wondering: Why couldn't it?
That question eventually became my University research into mental load, delegation algorithms and AI, which then became Otto.
The story behind the name
People aren't octopuses.
When I was a kid, I heard this a lot:
“One moment please, I'm not an octopus.”
It was usually said while she was already doing several things at once, and it always stuck with me.
Years later, while thinking about what it takes to organize your life, the phrase came back to me.
People aren't octopuses. And they shouldn't have to be.
Otto comes from otto, the Italian word for eight, and the octopus behind our logo.
It's a small reminder of a bigger idea: you shouldn't need eight arms to keep up on things. There's a better way.
Our mission
A home that takes care of itself.
We believe technology should give us fewer things to think about, not more. Otto exists to eliminate the mental load of running a home, so people can come home, switch off, and spend their energy on what really matters — rest, connection and the life they want to build.
A brighter, calmer future

Our goal is for Otto to become a household essential — from university dorms and shared apartments, to couples moving in together, to anyone building a life at home. A world where household mental load is no longer something people have to carry, and where a calmer, more balanced home is within everyone's reach.
